Romania Moto Adventure

Wonderful images of the center / Old Town of the capital of Romania, Bucharest (in Romanian, București).

Certainly the largest cathedral in Romania and, with its current construction date in this millennium, surely also in all of Europe. The cathedral is 127 meters high (Cologne Cathedral is 157 meters high) and has space for 5,000 people on an interior area of 17,800 m2.

Interestingly, the "interior paintings" are not paintings but mosaics. Pictures of the interior views by Mr. Rada, thank you very much for these.

The total area of the complex, located in the center of Bucharest and in the direct vicinity of the Parliament building, covers nearly 36,900 m2. The cathedral / complex was started / planned in 2009 and will be more or less finished (including all additional buildings) in a few years.

The Grigorescu Mansion (Buzau County, near the village of Berca) offers a family atmosphere and is centrally located in the Bucharest - Brasov - Danube Delta triangle. It is also a perfect starting point for excursions to the Dealu Mare wine region or for hiking and sporting experiences in the UNESCO Geopark Buzau.

The city of Craiova (also Krajowa) is the largest city in the historical region of Small Wallachia and the capital of Dolj County.

It is located about 220 kilometers west of Bucharest, in the Wallachian Plain, on the left bank of the Jiu (Shil) River. A Dacian settlement called Pelendava existed on the site of today's city from around 400-350 BC. At the beginning of the 2nd century AD, the Romans set up a camp here. Remains of this Roman fort have been excavated in the Craiova urban area.

In Ilfov County, just a few kilometers northwest of Bucharest (the capital of Romania), lies Mogosoaia Palace on the banks of Mogosoaia Lake in the commune of Mogosoaia.

The palace complex includes a main courtyard and many buildings, such as the watchtower and the "St. George" church near the courtyard.

The Wallachian Prince Constantin Brancoveanu had the palace built between 1698 and 1702 on the estate of the widow Mogos (from which the later name Mogosoaia is derived) in the Brancoveanu architectural style named after him. In 1714, when Constantin Brancoveanu was executed in Constantinople with his entire family, the Ottomans confiscated all the family assets and converted the palace into a han (a type of inn).

In the following decades, the palace was conquered, destroyed, and rebuilt several times until it came into the possession of George III Valentin Bibesco in 1912, who was married to the French writer of Romanian noble descent, Marthe Bibesco. He gave the estate to his wife, and Marthe Bibesco subsequently had the palace extensively restored.

The Stavropoleos Monastery is an Orthodox monastery in the centre of Bucharest (Old Town, Lipscani district, Strada Stavropoleos), the capital of Romania.

It was built in 1724 in the Brancoveanu style by the Greek monk Ioanichie Stratonikeas and is considered one of the most beautiful and important architectural monuments in the Romanian capital. The church is dedicated to the holy archangels Michael and Gabriel.

The "Palace of the Parliament" (The Parliament Building) in Bucharest covers about 360,000 sqm and is not only the second largest building in the world (after the Pentagon in Washington), but it also ranks first in the Guinness Book of World Records for its total weight.

The Church of St. George is located at Strada Cavafii Vechi 6, at the "Kilometer 0" of Romania (regarding the distance indications to Bucharest) and east of the Old Town of Bucharest.

As early as 1574, the Frenchman Pierre Lescalopier, when traveling through Bucharest, testified that there were two beautiful and holy places in the city center, one of which was the St. George Church. Thus, the church is one of the oldest in the city.

It is a beautiful church in the middle of the city. In front of the church, you can find a bell with the German inscription: "Mich goss Johann Freisinger Glockengiesser in Wien 1856".

And for those who visit these places, we also recommend a coffee, something sweet, a delicious breakfast, or more at Tosteria Italiana. It’s our favorite café when we want to enjoy Italian flair and music in this part of Bucharest. Tosteria is located at the corner of Calea Victoriei and Strada Biserica Amzei.

The university city of Iași (also known as Jassy and Jasch in German, formerly Jassenmarkt, Jaszvasarist in Hungarian) is located 20 kilometers west of the border with the Republic of Moldova and about 400 km northeast of Bucharest.

Pictures from the weekend ... a wonderful event with many, many satisfied guests! The Slow Food Festival "Piata Artizanilor" took place on Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15, 2026, in Bucharest.

In addition to many Romanian delicacies from local producers, wines from all over Romania, live cooking and live music, a children's program, an exhibition about "Slow Food," and much more, there was also an information stand from "Urlaub in Rumänien" and "roTravel24" on site, which was also very well received.

If you ever get to Bucharest, you really must visit it! Caru' cu Bere is a famous brewery in Bucharest that opened in 1879.

The brewery is located in the eastern part of downtown Bucharest (Old Centre), between Lipscani and Stavropoleus streets.

The dining room on the ground floor is seven (7) meters high and decorated in Gothic style with columns, stucco ceilings, carved panelling and paintings. Access to the other floors is via a carved oak staircase.
