Always a pleasure: The Turda Salt Mine is a true museum of the history of salt mining. It is located in the city of Turda, in Cluj County.
The temperature in the salt mine is constantly between 10-12 degrees. It is one of the oldest and most famous salt mines in Transylvania / Romania.
And if you want to take home a souvenir after your visit, just visit a (Romanian) Kaufland. The 1 kg package of Turda salt costs about 2 lei (40 cents), price as of November 2025.

Just outside the city of Cluj-Napoca (German: Klausenburg), in northwestern Romania, lies the Hoia Baciu forest, one of the most visited forests in the world, also known as the Romanian Bermuda Triangle.
And why? Over the decades, there have been hundreds of reports of paranormal activity here, ranging from mobile network interference, sightings of light orbs and ghosts, to people and animals disappearing and returning years later.
The Hoia Baciu forest takes its name from a shepherd of the region who disappeared in the forest with his flock of sheep. Another story tells of a five-year-old girl who went into the forest and returned five years later wearing the same clothes and looking not a day older. Many stories center around a clearing where nothing grows, even though scientists have examined the soil and found that everything is in order.
Whether you are looking for the supernatural or just an interesting hike, this forest is a fascinating and unique place and definitely worth a visit.

The Cheile Turzii (also called Thorenburger Schlucht in German) is a limestone gorge in the Trascau Mountains, on the eastern edge of the Western Carpathians in western Transylvania, Romania, not far from the city of Turda (Thorenburg).

The gorge, about two kilometers long, is traversed by the Hasdate stream, which has carved its way into the limestone here. On both sides, the gorge is bordered by steep walls about 300 meters high, in which several caves are found. As early as 1938, the gorge was declared a nature reserve due to the presence of over 1,000 plant species, some of them alpine. On an area of 176 hectares, about 70 species of birds, fish, amphibians, and some mammals such as foxes, weasels, martens, and wild boars live here.

Cluj-Napoca (German: Klausenburg, Hungarian: Kolozsvár) in summer, (probably*) the second largest city in Romania and the capital of Cluj County in Transylvania.
Cluj-Napoca, with about 400,000* inhabitants, is considered the unofficial capital of the Transylvania region. The city has universities, a vibrant nightlife, and many buildings from the times of Hungarian and Saxon rule. Around the main square, Piata Unirii, are the Gothic St. Michael’s Church and an equestrian statue of King Matthias Corvinus, who lived in the 15th century. The Turda Salt Mine is a true museum of the history of salt mining. It is located in the town of Turda, in Cluj County.
The temperature inside the salt mine remains constant at 10–12 °C. It is one of the oldest and best‑known salt mines in Transylvania / Romania.

Wildly romantic for some, hard work with many hardships for others—in the Apuseni Mountains, both come together. Who is happier... everyone must decide for themselves. More does not always mean better... at least not when it comes to one’s own satisfaction.
The Apuseni Mountains are a mountain range in western Romania. They reach peak heights of almost 1,850 meters (highest peak: Cucurbăta Mare at 1,849 meters) and form the northern section of the western Romanian Carpathians. The range has an almost circular shape with a diameter of 130 to 150 km, is bordered by the Mureș, Someș, and Barcău rivers, and is located in the counties of Arad, Bihor, Cluj, Alba, and Hunedoara.
